The Woods Recreation Center is an award winning $2 million facility located in one of the largest master planned communities in San Diego. The center includes a 4,000 square foot athletic pool, 1,00 square foot children’s pool, spas, fitness room, and 9,200-square-foot, two-story clubhouse with full demonstration kitchen and great room.
The Clubhouse became the starting point for all the community theme and context. The forms, colors and materials of The Clubhouse were adapted to numerous community features including an architecturally significant, ornate bridge over Salt Creek, community walls and custom mailbox facilities. Inspired by the legendary architect, Addison Mizner, the 9,200-square-foot two-story Mediterranean Revival style clubhouse captures the majestic influence of years gone by in every inch of its detail.
The landscape design and site plan complements this inspired building with the right mix of exotic formal and informal indoor and outdoor gathering areas. It has become the social and cultural focal point of the community for fitness, swimming, family events, meeting space and children’s activities.
The project received numerous awards including 2004 City of Chula Vista Beautification Award and the President’s award from the American Society of Landscape Architect (ASLA) in 2005.
